Struggling to Write…

Do you look at all these people blogging, self-publishing books, sending ezines and posting their stuff on social media and wonder…

How do they do it?

OR perhaps “Why” do they do it?

A number of people have suggested I “write” and recently a friend posted on Facebook “Helen.

I really like your [Facebook] page. Great to see you, Danny and children the other evening. Thank you for a lovely eve. I left, feeling inspired. You really have a lot of knowledge, regarding the human condition, and I feel strongly this is an area you should explore. You’d make a great therapist, and the more I hear you speak, I am CONVINCED you are a WRITER!!!!………… xxxx

This got me thinking about how much I struggle to write about the things that people seem to want to hear about…come and chat with me and I’ll share anything with you, but write it down…aaahhhh!!

Perhaps you are one of those prolific writers that amaze me, OR are you more like me? Do you struggle to move how you feel, your true wisdom, into the written word?

Give me a subject you’re interested in… Give me a problem you want to solve… and I will share anything with you if you let me talk WITH you, talk and listen, listen and talk.

So why not just talk and not bother with writing?

Or in my case “trying” to write… :)

My reasons are:

  1. I have an enormous desire to make a huge difference in people’s lives… to do that I need to get my message out into the world, people need to see me, hear me and understand who I am and what I can offer them. (And now the panic sets in…)
  2. I want to grow, personally; to grow in knowledge, love and Spirit… to do that I need to put myself into positions where I have to face my fears and develop the resources to overcome my challenges. (Going into business on your own is the modern equivalent of putting yourself into a convent or monastery in the old days. It will bring up every one of your issues and force you to grow more deeply and greatly than you ever thought you could…)

Both these things can happen if I just talked to people, but there is something deep within me driving me to reach ever wider and larger audiences (while the other part of me is freaking out and doing its best to keep me in hibernation… so much safer!)

What makes you want to write or speak up? (What is driving you?)
What brings on writer’s block for you? (What makes you want to hide out?)

I respectfully suggest your internal rhetoric that stops you,  may well sound very similar to mine.  Here’s are the hurdles that hold me back from just pouring my thoughts and insights out onto a page regularly:

  1. I struggle with all this “window dressing”, much of what appears to be superfluous, inauthentic “clap trap”, and I think a lot of people I know do too. (Here I am judging based on my values of transparency/ authenticity/ being real, respect for others space and time so feeling its important only to put in front of them what is genuinely helpful to them.)
  2. I struggle to OWN the value I do provide. Do I really know what I’m talking about? Who says? (Here we have some childhood beliefs kicking in, e.g. “It’s bad to brag”, “Who do you think you are?”)
  3. The things I don’t do that I think I should, get more “air time” in my head, focusing me on what I’m not good at rather than what I am good at. (Here we have patterns of thinking or habit loops kicking in that formulated in childhood, exacerbated by school!)
  4. What if I upset someone? (And here we have the most primal of instincts kicking in, e.g. rejection from the tribe used to mean death so we do everything we can to avoid rejection or even the potential for rejection.)

Has your rational mind been answering my concerns as you read them? Of course. I know a lot of it is nonsense and the more aware I am of how my mind is working the more able I am to move through these challenges…

So again I ask you, why do you want to write? And what’s holding you back? What’s stopping you really revealing your truth? What is your message for us?

Victoria B’s Hands: What do they reveal?

Please note: The following observations are simply from having seen a picture of Victoria Beckham’s hands and these observations are more a teaching aid for those interested in what certain things in their own hands mean, rather than fact regarding Victoria Beckham. I have never met Victoria Beckham and do not know anyone who knows her.

Are your hands quite lined? Victoria’s are! This is not as a result of age or being so thin, it’s a reflection of the fact that she thinks A LOT, that she has developed many different ways to respond to life. She is resourceful and a creative thinker.

Her career line (light blue on picture) has a healthy start based on what she wants and desires, and follows through straight and clear until it hits her heart line where it all but stops. This shows that she is very career focussed, a hard worker who follows through until her heart gets in the way. She will give up her career, bring a stop to it, to meet the needs of those she loves. The difficulty is that the drive to fulfil her desires will still be there and after a time she will begin to resent her loved ones even if they never asked her to give up her desires for them.

Do

you have any callouses? She has a callous below her heartline (black ring on picture), under her ring finger which is indicative of the needs of her heart “blocking” her desire for fame, appreciation and applause, and the spotlight (Her high set ring finger shows that she puts a lot of effort into trying to get these things).

Victoria Beckham's Left Hand

She has a second lifeline (green) that is tied to her headline (dark blue) showing that she also has a VERY traditional side a bit like Simon Cowell, and given the lifeline from here is much longer she is likely to follow through on her traditional beliefs about her role as a parent and wife much more so than her momentary sojourns into independent action. It’s tough to have 2 sides of yourself pulling in opposite directions! [Like Simon Cowell she also has the cross between head and heartline showing she feels unsupported in her pursuit of the spotlight; it’s ll up to her.]

These are the signs of the modern woman:

How can I become all I want to be, fulfil all my desires and still fulfil the role of a wonderful mother and loving wife? It’s a constant balancing act that so very many of us live with day to day. If I do my career, my family suffers.

If I take care of my family the way I want to, my personal dreams are unfulfilled.

This is further echoed by the fact that the top of her index finger curves to her middle finger. Does yours stand straight or curve too? This is a sign of not taking actions on her dreams, compromising on what she wants. Her middle finger curves toward her ring finger showing that she is worried about what is right and what is wrong. Thinking, thinking all the time. Is what I am doing for my family the right thing? Is what I’m doing for my career wrong? This can make her indecisive and struggle to know what to value.

She has a small lower section on her little finger which shows that she struggles to trust, to be vulnerable with herself and others. Also, her heartline (in red) is that of a person who cares about others although she is reserved about it and keeps her feelings to herself.

Victoria struggles to find life fun. She is a worrier, a tightrope walker and she worries about her security and safety, which she puts a lot of effort into having, along with her pursuit of the spotlight (which tends to get derailed by her fear of being vulnerable). For us to be able to laugh and have fun we need to be able to feel secure, not to worry and just lighten up. Read the rest of this entry »

Purpose & Enlightenment Through Laughter

Laugh!

I’ve just got off the phone with a good friend who makes me laugh and laugh, until my sides hurt. Do you have any friends who help you do that?

It truly is the best medicine in the world. It’s God’s own energy.

This friend is marked to be a world-renowned spiritual teacher. He has experienced the worst that life has to offer in so many ways but he has the energy of a phoenix and chooses to rise from his life’s ashes stronger, more enlightened and more on purpose than before.

Laughter raises our vibration, it allows us to rise up from our ashes and fly. It’s the wind beneath our wings.

We are taught directly and indirectly that we need to be serious, to take life seriously, to take our jobs seriously. We are taught that to be responsible we need to be serious, that laughter about anything serious is irreverant and irresponsible. But, for those of us who are naturally responsible and serious, for those of us who have experienced enormous pain and difficulty in life, this additional emphasis can lead to us becoming very down-hearted and even depressed. We take ourselves and our experiences so seriously. (Stick with me,

I’m not suggesting they aren’t).

Life Purpose: Discovery Is Not Enough!

So now you know your life purpose… what are you doing with it? How are you using it to move from where you are to where you want to be?

When you finally discovered what your life purpose was it felt so exciting (or did it feel disappointing?), and then you got home and the fear kicked in… it’s too much, too overwhelming…there is no way this is me… nice fantasy but far safer to pretend than to actually move towards it… I’d need to change my job to do that but I can’t,

I need the money…  I don’t have the time to take all that on… and so on.  What do you say to yourself? What are the reasons you don’t embrace your life purpose?

The following is one of my favourite quotes of all time…

Your Health: Clues in Hand Analysis

You’re a grown up. You know what it takes to be healthy, don’t you? Sleep enough, eat the right foods in appropriate quantities and do at least 30 minutes of exercise once a day, right? So. Do you? If not, why not? Are you so wrapped up in what is going on in your head or in how you are feeling about something that you are on autopilot regarding your body? Lets get really clear about something. This is the vehicle you have chosen for your life. You are not going to get another one. This is it. No body equals no life, certainly not in any physical sense.

So why the heck do you ignore it’s needs? Well, the answer probably lies in your hands… here are a couple of examples: Read the rest of this entry »

Spiritually Emerging… Are you?

My big passion is to get people to step out of the caves they are hiding in and share their “light” (gifts, talents, purpose, authentic selves, soul energy) with the rest of us. So you may wonder why I’ve been hiding out for awhile recently (I’ve not updated this blog for some time)…?

Well, truth be known, I had to step back a little way into my cave to undergo an internal transition. This part of my cave feels like a chrysalis, a cocoon, a place of quiet transformation.  I needed to retreat into myself to allow it to take place unhindered by analysis.  I’ve been through periods of emergence before and have found simply letting things come, letting things be is what makes the process simpler and more effective for me, so it is almost as if I am allowing a process to take place within me without looking at it directly, without shining my light directly on it… thus my ego, my personality consciousness does not feel threatened by the changes taking place and doesn’t put up any walls to the change. Well in theory at any rate. I did have some hiccups along the way, of my own making, but I’m getting there… I am emerging again, this time I feel like the caterpillar who finally realised their purpose was to be a butterfly and needed to make a cocoon for that change to take place. I have emerged with wings but they are still really wet. I think it will take me a little time to let them dry, to feel just how big they might be, to understand their colours, to trust they are safe, to learn to fly and share my true beauty with the world…

So, what is all this wonderful picturesque analogy talk really about?

Make a Decision: It is the source of your power

Many of us have lots of ideas about what the government should do, what our bosses should be doing, or how our friends should be raising their kids. But what about our own lives?

What ideas do we have about our own lives? Are we burying our heads in the sand, not looking at what we really want for ourselves? Perhaps you know exactly what you would like your life to be like, if so, what are you doing to create the life you want?

Most of us seem to be more comfortable to react to life or simply go along with whatever is thrown at us, never defining what we really want… ignoring the niggle at the back of our minds, the slight ache in our hearts… So what would happen if you did acknowledge your deepest dream, if you did look at what you really wanted?

Imagine you look at what you want full on, first your dream for yourself and your life starts to come into a proper focus, take on structure and definition, and you get a really good feeling thinking about how it would feel to live your life the way you want to, then… Read the rest of this entry »

Is your Life Purpose to be a success?

Do you know how to achieve tangible, measurable results? Do you know how to succeed? Or, do you have great ideas that never seem to come to fruition?

Are you always dreaming of what you could be? Is the idea of being successful exciting, but also a bit scary?

Do you feel like a failure at times, or is that too strong a word… perhaps, you think you don’t know enough to be a success?

Perhaps you’ve tried on a number of occasions to achieve something but it hasn’t worked out? It is your Life Purpose to be a Master of Results (a success in the world) if you have a deep desire to be independent, particularly with regard to making money and succeeding in your own terms. Those of us with a Master of Results Life Purpose tend to  experience everything but success before we finally figure out how to do it… often we hide out, so scared of failing we don’t try, so scared of success we put roadblocks in our way, but something keeps pulling at us… we want to be successful and the more we secretly hope for it, the more our efforts get sabotaged, the lower we feel.

You have a choice, you can continue to exist as you are or you can decide enough is enough! It is time to get back onto your road to achieving tangible, measurable material results!

For a fledgling Master of Results,

we need to understand our belief systems about money and success to prevent them being our own internal roadblocks.

  • What are your beliefs about money? What has your life experience taught you about money? Are you scared of having no money? Have you had so much that you’ve never had to be self-reliant or competent in any way?
  • What are your beliefs about money and success? Do you think people who succeed are ruthless or arrogant? How comfortable are you about earning more and achieving more than anyone else in your family? How would becoming a success in your own terms impact your current life and those around you (think beyond the obvious here)?
  • Are you making good money but find that it does not make you feel fulfilled? Are you afraid to risk failure to do something you really want deep down? Do you feel your worth is determined by how much money you have?
  • Do you want to do everything yourself? Do you ever allow others to help you? Do you feel more competent than those around you? Alternatively, are you completely dependent on others for your material support and lazy about doing things for yourself?

Being aware of how you think and what you believe to be true, helps you to understand why you may not, subconsciously, want success.Knowledge of yourself and your belief systems is key to changing your experience of yourself and the world you live in. If you are destined to be successful here are some things that you may encounter out in the world:

  • Others are threatened by your success or your focus on success, discouraging you from going for your goals either by saying so outright or by subtler means.
  • You will encounter obstacles in your pursuit of success. How you deal with those obstacles ultimately determines your success or failure.  Don’t give up!
  • You will fail, and you may fail again after you succeed… this is how you learn what not to do, this is how you become a master of success and achieving the results you want.  Don’t give up!
  • Waiting for the right set of circumstances before you take action… There will always be a reason not to take action.  Stop making excuses and take the first step, progress one step at a time.

So please tell me, do you think it is your Life Purpose to be successful? Are any of the experiences I’ve mentioned above true for you? Tell me your stories.I am really interested!!! I will leave you with one last thought “Being a success is not instant and it is not without effort!

But that is the whole point – we never value things we haven’t had to work for anyway…”

Have a beautiful day!

Are you hiding out?

It feels so nice and safe to hide out… I love it! At least I think IRotten tomatoes? do… hmmm….? Do you hide out? Keep a low profile? Careful not to raise your head above any line that may make you stand out in some way? Truly amazing how desperate we all are to be approved of, to be liked, to fit in. And yet… there is a cry deep within our souls that asks so much more of us. It can feel anything like a vague sense of discomfort, a niggle, all the way to feeling physically trapped, powerless, desperate. What does it feel like for you?

There are so many reasons that each and everyone of us hide out.  A common one is what Richard Unger calls “tomato fear”, in other words fear of people throwing tomatoes at us, which is fundamentally the same as being criticised or rejected.  The idea of being rejected… aaahhhh!!! Too painful for words… but I’m developing strategies for coping with that!

Recent research shows that we naturally tend to look to  the negative in any given situation because it is a primal instinct. We naturally feel safe with people who are pro us and so we can feel safe enough to ignore them, but the moment we sense something other than positive vibes towards us, the primitive part of our brain goes on high alert – danger! So we are wired to keep ourselves safe, and the best way to do that is not to get noticed, to avoid any form of confrontation.

We have this primitive part of ourselves and a higher self, a soul calling us forth to fulfil our life purposes, and they are pulling in opposite directions. Part of our purpose is to become conscious of the things we do on autopilot. Autopilot tends to be our primitive self controlling our actions, but once we become conscious of what we are doing and why we are doing it we can change our behaviour and the results we get.

So take your first step into your light and think about what you are doing… Are you allowing yourself to feel your emotions, even the ucky ones or are you burying them inside yourself pretending you don’t feel anything? Are you keeping what you think to yourself in fear of being criticised or mocked? Are you avoiding taking any action in case it’s the “wrong” action or are you scared that taking one path will prevent you trying another so it is easier just to stay still? Are you sacrificing what you want just to keep the peace? Are you taking care of everyone else and forgetting about yourself?

Your first step is simply to notice what you are doing… and DO NOT beat yourself up about it.  We all do it.  We all have to start by noticing what we’re doing and then in our own time, in baby steps, take a few chances and act in a way that is more true to who we really are.

It is our collective purpose to experience as much as we can, do everything we do with love and live our life purposes. It seems to be humanity’s purpose to develop self-esteem, to learn to value ourselves for who we really are, and the individuality of those around us. On top of that each one of us has an individual purpose that we are being led toward throughout our lives.  Still don’t know what your purpose is? Don’t worry, you’re not unusual.  There are ways to discover it…  I personally love the simple, easy map lying in your hands but there are other ways too.

Purpose hint:

if you are avoiding doing something as hard as you can (hiding out) then in all likelihood the thing you’re avoiding is part of your life purpose.  Our life purposes calls us to get out of our comfort zones, to have new experiences, personally and out in the world, to live!

This article is as much for me as it is for you.  Fear of failure has held me hostage for so many years.  I am so fed up with it that I am taking, and have taken, steps to move into the life

I really want.  This blog is part of my way of stepping into my light.

I’d really love to hear about what keeps you in hiding, what holds you back, what you fear, or simply your experiences of trying to come out of hiding and how they felt…

3 steps to getting unstuck

Most of the people I speak to aren’t satisfied with their lives… it’s as if the dreams they had as children, teenagers or young adults were just that, dreams.

They feel as if life is fairly hum-drum and can’t imagine how they might live a different life. A life they love.  A life that makes them want to get up in the morning. A life that makes them feel as if they are living with a purpose, a reason for being.

Well, the world is changing and more and more of us are being called to WAKE UP! Wake up to your purpose.  Wake up to your role in changing the world we live in, changing it for the better for all of us. Those of us who are not listening to the calls to wake up and refocus our lives to fulfil our purpose will keep encountering hurdles and difficulties, things will keep going “wrong” for us…

We may have  good intentions but somehow something always seems to get in the way… not facing that “something” is what is keeping you stuck.  Toward the end of this article

I’ll give you a tip on how you can quickly figure out what is holding you back from living your life purpose… a life where you feelfulfilled and excited!

Here are 3 steps to getting out of your rut and back on the road that is your unique life purpose:

1. Remember what your dreams were. What did you want to do? Who did you want to be? Ignore how realistic those dreams were, just remember them and how they made you feel.  That is the feeling you need to get back, and you can!!

2. Think about those dreams of yours and what stopped you following them? Each time your life diverted away from your dreams what happened, what were you faced with, that made you turn away from them? Look for underlying similarities to these events… things like not believing you deserved what you wanted, feeling unsupported, feeling out of control, other people’s opinions, fear of success, fear of failure.  You will more than likely start to notice a trend whenever you encounter a “hurdle” in your life and this trend is likely to be a very big clue to your life lesson (more about that later).

3. Take some quiet time each day (10 minutes is fine) and listen, listen with an open heart, to what your emotions and your heart are telling you, whether it is to take a certain job (or not), take a trip or simply to be kinder to your mother!Put your logic aside for a while and truly listen to your heart, follow its advice, and as you learn to listen to how you feel about things, taking those feelings into consideration before you act, so you will start to steer your life closer to your true purpose.  Remember that your soul speaks to you through your heart!

Make the outcome of these 3 steps part of your everyday life. Remember how you felt when you truly dreamed and start to dream again (no practical, logical stuff allowed, just dream of possibilities). Whenever you come up against a choice or a hurdle use the awareness you gained from step 2 to re-look at the choice or hurdle you are being offered. I hope that awareness will help you not to slip into autopilot copying the actions you have taken in the past. And then, the most important of all, take time to listen to your heart whenever you can, listen to how you feel and act based on how you feel.  More importantly though never make any choice again without listening to your heart… if it doesn’t feel “right” no matter how right it looks logically or on paper then don’t do it.  It isn’t your purpose.  Trust your soul.  Trust your heart.  It knows what is best for you. Okay, I promised you a quick tip earlier and here it is.  Get a Life Purpose hand analysis reading!  I am constantly stunned by the impact the information left in people’s hands by their soul, has on them, thus I am passionate about this being a tool for each of us to save years and years of looking, searching and angst! With a set of handprints from you I can tell you what your life purpose is (amazing, huh?!), but there is even a bonus, I can tell you what keeps getting in your way (your Life Lesson) and the skill set you are here to learn so that you can achieve your life purpose.  In fact a full hand analysis reading can supply you with a blue print of what you need to build the life of your dreams…
